Sun Pavilion Celebrates 10 Years
16th December 2008


The Sun Pavilion in Valley Gardens is one of Harrogate's spa heritage venues, and last week celebrated its 10th Anniversary with a champagne reception party to mark a decade of success following the restoration program, which was completed in 1998. Read the full release here.
 
Christmas and Gift 60th Show
19th November 2008


The Christmas and Gift Show, (formerly known as the Toy Fair), will celebrate its diamond anniversary when it returns to Harrogate International Centre, (HIC), for its annual Show in January 2009. Recognised as the leading event for the Christmas, festive and allied markets the event has been taking place in Harrogate throughout its sixty-year history and is probably the longest running Show in the UK. Read the full release here.

Blues Brothers Christmas Lights
7th November 2008


Harrogate town centre will be lit this Christmas following a joint funding campaign between Harrogate Retailers' Forum, Harrogate College, Stray FM, Harrogate Chamber of Trade and Commerce, Harrogate Advertiser, Tetleys of Harrogate Electric Contractors and Harrogate Borough Council. Read the full release here.

Moscow Ballet on Canvas
22nd October 2008


When the Moscow Ballet appear at Harrogate International Centre, (HIC), in November to perform Coppelia, their image will already have been captured on canvas by local artist Jenni Eden. Read the full release here.

HIC secure Bridal Exhibition to 2011
17th October 2008


Harrogate International Centre (HIC) has secured the British Bridal Exhibition in Harrogate (BBEH), for 2009 through to 2011. The Exhibition takes places twice a year, in March and September, and each show brings over 3,500 unique visitors to Harrogate, with over 15% of the visitors travelling from overseas. Read the full release here.

HIC improve Harrogate hotel income

The accommodation service operated by Harrogate International Centre, (HIC), has been successful in its bid to secure contracts to exclusively manage hotel accommodation bookings for delegates to two conferences in 2009, and a third event in 2010. Read the full release here.

Nursery Fair returns to Harrogate in 2009
14th October 2008


Harrogate International Centre (HIC) have retained the prestigious Nursery Fair for 2009 after a successful 2008 event. In the opinion of many of the exhibitors, this year's show was the most successful yet and it certainly had the highest number of exhibitors ever. Read the full release here.

Royal Hall High Commendation
9th October 2008


The Royal Hall, Harrogate, part of the Harrogate International Centre portfolio, received a High Commendation at the British Construction Industry 21st Anniversary Awards, in the Conservation Award category. These awards represent the UK's 'Oscars' for the construction industry. The event was held in London on 8 October 2008. Read the full release here.

Unanimous approval for HIC development plans

Hotels Group host at Ripon Races

HIC at Event UK
22nd August 2008


Harrogate International Centre will be exhibiting on stand V820 at the inaugural Event UK exhibition on Tuesday 16 to Wednesday 17 September 2008, held at Birmingham NEC.

European recognition for Yorkshire Dales and Harrogate

The Yorkshire Dales and Harrogate area has won European recognition for its work in promoting tourism.
 
And it has now become one of just 48 regions in Europe to receive the prestigious European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas award. Read the full release here. 


A robot visits HIC
17th June 2008

Filmmaker and graphic designer Ross Anderson, and his business partner Rosie Davey, who specialises in animation and special effects, approached HIC with an unusual request earlier this month when they asked if they could bring their robot -named Gimi - on a visit to HIC's auditorium and Royal Hall. This is the third year running that Harrogate Borough Council has held its Employee of Achievement Awards.

Penny Blacks worth £1m
2nd May 2008


Exhibiting at the 8th ABPS National Philatelic Exhibition in Harrogate is Alan Holyoake's collection of Penny Blacks worth £1m.  Also on display is a selection of stamps from the Royal Collection.

Over £1/2m for Aston Martins at Royal Hall Auction 1st May 2008

Despite the doom and gloom pervading the current economic climate, H&H enjoyed a notably successful sale on its first visit to Harrogate. Auction goers both old and new were bowled over by the Harrogate International Centre's spacious indoor exhibition facilities. Newly refurbished but not yet open to the general public, the adjoining Royal Hall had its floor area decorated with automobilia and its VIP boxes filled with racing motorcycles. With its towering ceiling, gilt laden mouldings and classical tableau paintings, this truly magnificent 'saleroom' played host to visitors from throughout the British Isles and Europe as well as others from South Africa and Japan. Read the full release here.

 
Halle Orchestra at the Royal Hall
26th April 2008

Harrogate's glittering palace of gold, the Royal Hall, held its inaugural re-opening concert last night, Sunday 27 April, to a full house of delighted guests. Acclaimed conductor, Mark Elder, led the Halle Orchestra performing classical pieces by Wagner, Weber and Elgar. International concert pianist, Benjamin Frith, also gave a brilliant performance of Rachmaninov's piano concerto No 2. The Halle Orchestra first performed at the Royal Hall in 1939. Harrogate International Centre recently hosted a visit from Leeds Metropolitan University when 15 students studying a degree course in "Conference & Exhibition Management within the UK Centre for Events Management" were shown around the Royal Hall, the exhibition halls and the auditorium. HIC plant 10,000 trees

As part of their new Corporate Social Responsibility Charter, HIC, (Harrogate International Centre), commissioned the planting of 10,000 whips at Iron Gates Field, next to the Rotary Woods at Pinewoods in Harrogate. Read the full release here

D'Nile to play Royal Hall

Harrogate based indie-rock band, D'Nile, will be the first band to play at the Royal Hall. Liam Gray (vocals), Steve Mosby (lead guitar), Andy Mosby (bass), Jason Baldwin (guitar), and Andy Kearns (drums) rapidly gained success throughout 2007, mesmerising new fans with every performance. Millions of Travellers Select the World's Best Hotels Harrogate's Rudding Park Hotel named best for luxury 12 February 2008

Federation of Petroleum Suppliers return to Harrogate
